What will you do?

This is my friend Thomas Bosire. As you can see he was born without limbs.

After birth he was abandoned by his parents and later rescued and taken to a children’s home. But they also ejected him after he did his KCSE (form 4) because they said their policies do not allow them to take care of adults.

Through well-wishers he has been able to pursue various courses. He has to date five (5) diplomas and several other certificates. He sent me his CV and certificates to help him get a job and that is how I came to see those documents. He has diplomas from computerized accounting to video editing to ICT and his grades are always distinctions or As. Only one has a B grade.

But I was amazed when I got to see his O level results (2002). He is qualified to take any prestigious course as he had a B+ with enough As. A rare feat for someone without hands and feet! And from such a background!

I am sure he had to endure mistreatment, harassment and exploitation due to his status. I won’t be surprised if he was paraded to challenge people to have mercy and give to causes, causes that not only meant nothing to him but that never benefitted him at all. Being in the disability movement and being involved with the disadvantaged makes me say that from experience.

It was then with a friend we felt that what he probably needs to make good use of that brain is go to the university to pursue the course of his choice without worrying about what he will eat or where he will sleep as is his situation presently. Though helping him meet those urgent needs will give him present relief, I believe exposing him to what God had in mind when he gave him that kind of brain is what will give him fulfillment.

I also need to state that he is a Christian and an excellent Sunday School teacher. He is also very gracious and not like many people with such a background who are bitter with society especially for that neglect.

The job he prefers for now is teaching ICT. If you have such an opening please let me know.

But my prayer is for a full scholarship to pursue IT or anything else to the highest levels.

Will you pray with me and open your eyes for those openings?
